I agree with Sune, I find the black gradient really takes from the piece. Maybe blend the symbols, used to create the animal, into the grey the further down they go instead of using the black to represent animals endangered/ disappearing. This way the animal would appear to be disappearing into the background — like how the whale's tale begins to blend into the white at the top of your Save Animal #3 piece. I love that one by the way ;)
