Usually, when I make my drawings, I use about equal hand-drawn techniques and Photoshop. This time, however, I wanted to stay within the boundaries of this contest, and made everything except the original line art digitally. It was quite a challenge and very much fun, I hope that it shows.
She’s patiently waiting for her stars to ripen and be ready for picking - she’s already readied her jars for them. Nothing shines as beautifully as a pickled star, right? I hope people will find their own symbolism in the picture, I know I found mine.
Usually I have no plan when putting pencils to paper, I just let the picture evolve and grow on it’s own. Occasionally, though, I let a dream or emotion be the main inspiration.
I’ve always been drawing, for as long as I can remember. It’s a big part of who I am, being able to draw and create. I’ve been studying Cultural Relations, when not drawing, and will soon add a study in Japanese language and culture to that. Perhaps this will shine through in my work, I’m eagerly waiting to find out!
